In 2010 we stumbled upon this vacant industrial building, located three blocks from the Strand in Hermosa Beach. We were surprised to find this little manufacturing and distribution zone so close to the ocean, but quickly learned the area was a vital part of the city's economy -- and decided to contribute in our own way.

The building had endured a series of greasy and grimy uses, so there was much clean-up to do. The area now designated as the design shop was the original stucco building, which was later expanded with the addition of the two-story concrete block structure. We stepped in to do what we do everyday for our clients, only this time for ourselves, and now have a place to run through our creative ideas.

With a bit of vision (our architectural and construction training came in handy) and our desire to make good design accessible to our community, we are now starting to blaze the path for creating an arts district in Hermosa Beach!

Below is a series of before and after shots of the building exterior, design shop, warehouse, and studio. We hope you enjoy reviewing them, share, and comment with your feedback!
